If your skin has been feeling a little dry or you’ve noticed a few new fine lines, this Tallow body butter might become your new skincare favorite. It’s rich, nourishing, and melts beautifully into the skin, leaving it soft, supple, and radiant. Best of all, this tallow body butter is made with natural, skin-loving ingredients and infused with a luxury spa-inspired essential oil blend that smells heavenly.
I recently made this tallow body butter for my YouTube channel, and I’m completely obsessed with how it turned out!
Why Use Tallow Body Butter?
Grass-fed beef tallow is a traditional skincare ingredient that’s making a big comeback — and for good reason. It’s packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with fatty acids that closely resemble our skin’s natural oils. This makes it deeply moisturizing without clogging pores. When blended with lightweight oils like jojoba oil, the result is a tallow body butter that’s rich yet fast-absorbing.
Ingredients You’ll Need (for a 6 oz batch)
- 45% Grass-fed beef tallow (81 g)
- 25% Jojoba oil (45 g)
- 20% Sweet almond oil (36 g)
- 5% Beeswax (9 g) – optional, for a firmer texture
- 1% Vitamin E (1.8 g) – helps preserve the balm and nourishes skin
- 0.5% Essential oil blend (0.9 g) – see below
- 3.5% Arrowroot powder (6.3 g) – optional, for a smooth, matte finish
Luxury Spa Essential Oil Blend
This blend is gentle enough for facial use if desired, and gives your tallow body butter a truly elegant scent:
- 10 drops Lavender – rejuvenating
- 5 drops Geranium – balancing and uplifting
- 5 drops Tea Tree – cleansing and soothing
- 5 drop Roman Chamomile – soft and calming
- 4 drops Guava essential oil – for fine lines and wrinkles
Together, they create a scent that feels peaceful, balanced, and luxuriously natural. It’s just like stepping into a high-end spa.
How to Make It
- Melt the tallow and beeswax (if using) in a double boiler over low heat.
- Remove from heat and stir in the jojoba and sweet almond oils.
- Cool the mixture by placing in fridge or freezer until slightly solid.
- Add vitamin E and essential oils when you know for sure that the mixture is below 110 degrees.
- Add arrowroot powder if desired, and whip with a blender.
- Pour into glass jars or tins and allow to cool completely before sealing.
How to Use
Warm a pea-sized amount of the tallow body butter between your fingertips and apply to dry skin as needed. You can also use this as face balm by applying a small amount to your face gently. I would recommend this as the last step in your evening routine before bed. Allow your skin to rest and repair overnight.
Your skin will feel soft, silky, and protected, especially during the colder months!
